Michael Savage has announced a new book, “Psychological Nudity”, which will be released in the Fall. It is a rare, limited first edition. His has been a prolific career, having written twenty-five books, several of which have appeared on the New York Times best seller list. Just as he exhibits an eclectic bent in his radio commentaries, so has he promised the same in his new book.

“Psychological Nudity” denotes an encompassing tell-all, but it is not the stuff of the tabloid autobiographies of famous, and would-be famous people. Instead, it is a compendium of favorite stories gathered throughout Savage’s lifetime. Turns out that Savage’s favorites are his listeners’ favorites, too.

His is the story of the American dream, the up-from-the-bootstraps struggle so many have tried. Savage’s triumph was remarkable in that he has excelled in many fields. His fulfillment of the American dream took several paths, but always kept him founded in his devotion to language, borders, and culture. This is his inner core, his very breath.

Savage is still honing his skill, seeking out the common person. He often also finds the uncommon person in his travels about the streets. One title in the story of his new book, “Talking to a Bum About God” seems typical. Although he professes to be a loner, his curiosity about people takes him right up against them on his way through the streets of San Francisco.

Even the titles whet the appetite. What was he doing in the “Fiji Islands in 1969”? And, what’s up with “When Pasta Was Spaghetti”? What does Savage have to tell us about “My Silent Brother”? We are bound to learn and to be saddened, also. His brother’s story gave us an insight as to how those different from us are treated. “Foreword” (The Autism Storm) was the result of aroused passions in the airing of this condition, but also got some publicity for it and led to a much-needed general discussion.

One of the most endearing traits a man possesses is a regard for his mother. Savage remembers his own fondly and often. She is here, in “Mama Savage Calls”. Tied into the influence of his mother is the story of “From Immigrant Son to Radio Stardom”. Savage remembers his roots and those who shaped him into his present self.

The book has over 75 stories, as unique as Savage presents himself to his listeners every day. They are given by a master story teller, fueled by a life full of interesting encounters. It promises to have something that appeals to everybody.
