Racial Profiling Or (Un)Common Sense?
"All Points Bulletin: Be on the lookout four young Asian males who just robbed First National Bank and murdered a security guard." In response, police immediately stop and question four elderly black women leaving a church service. "Wait!" you say, "That defies common sense." Unfortunately, common sense is very un-common in these days of political correctness.
If the police were to stop young Asian males in such a situation, it would make sense! Of course the young men would try to claim racial profiling (especially if they were guilty). But that wouldn't change the fact that eye-witnesses saw Asians commit the crime. The same would happen if black men were observed in the commission of a felony. The police wouldn't stop Caucasian or Asian men, because that would give the real criminals time to get away. Is it too much to ask that our airport screeners use simple common sense?
I received the following email this week from John Balliet, one of our subscribers: "On a recent trip to Denver I noticed the exact opposite of racial profiling. It was hideous who was pulled aside, with the worst examples being in Houston at George Bush International. There we noticed two white males, sons traveling with their family, a Japanese young woman with children and an older caucasian woman (grandma looking) being searched by an African American female attendant. However the Islamic passengers on the plane were shuffled right through along with some middle aged males traveling alone." And this is just one of dozens of such emails I have received.
People, this is insanity. One-hundred percent of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers and suicide bombers were young to middle aged Middle Eastern males. One-hundred percent of those convicted of the earlier World Trade Center bombing were young to middle aged Middle Eastern males. Since it is impossible to search everyone, simple logic decrees you spend your limited resources searching those who exhibit the highest probability of being the actual threat to society. This is not racial profiling. This is common sense. Why has common sense become so un-common?
Common sense as a standard has been replaced by fear of offending and by political correctness. Years ago, the FBI gave Bill Clinton irrefutable evidence that the Holy Land Foundation and other "charities" were fronts for Hamas and other terrorist organizations. His excuse for not shutting them down? He didn't want to "offend" Muslims. I've said this before, but I'll probably have to repeat it several thousand times until the simpletons running our government get the message: There is no Constitutional guarantee against being offended.
I'll take it a step further. I would offend every single ethnic, racial and religious group in the world 100 times each if it would prevent a tragedy like the 9/11 Attack on America. And in fact there is considerable evidence that if Slick Willie had done his job (even though he would have offended some people in the process), the September attacks might well have never taken place. Unfortunately, he was very busy seducing his staff and fighting off impeachment for lying to a federal Grand Jury, so the small matter of terrorism was pushed to the back burner.
I'm not saying that no one but Middle Eastern males should be searched. First of all, anyone who acts in a suspicious manner should be checked. And it is certainly possible that the terrorists will use females or elderly Muslims to do their dirty work. But what are the chances that they will successfully recruit a Japanese grandmother to commit suicide for Allah? Zero. Then why are we searching Japanese grandmothers and letting Arab men who fit the profile walk by the checkers?
Our government is deathly afraid of the phrase "racial profiling." They should be a lot more afraid of the phrase, "We are going to crash this plane into the Capitol to glorify Allah!"
