Change – Oh, Yeah

Rumors are flying about a new network adventure series: "Obama, the Change Agent." It should be a hit. The producers will certainly have a lot of material to work with, since Obama changes his positions on critical matters more often than I change socks. But his most recent change shows that Obama is really all about politics as usual.

This should come as no surprise, since his prime backers are the acknowledged champions of backroom politics -- none other than the Kennedy's and their cronies. When Teddy Kennedy endorsed Obama it was abundantly clear what kind of campaign he would run, and who his bosses were. Kennedy, by the way, has the second most liberal voting record in the senate. The winner of that dubious honor, according to a non-partisan group, is none other than Barrack Hussein Obama.

What flip-flop has given America yet another reason to mistrust Obama? His 180 degree change of direction with regard to the Florida and Michigan Democrat delegations.

Just a few months ago he and his buddy, "Screaming Howard" Dean were the chief proponents of a hard-line attitude toward Florida and Michigan. Dean and Obama sought to punish these states for their "crime" of holding their primaries earlier than the dictatorial Democrat National Committee allowed.

Dean's motives, as head of the DNC, were clear. He wanted to show everyone that he was boss. And of course, he and Teddy Kennedy knew that Obama would be a lot easier to control than Hillary.

Obama's motives were clear, as well. Hillary won Florida and Michigan. He didn't want a single Florida or Michigan vote to count. He made this stand on "principle" because he claimed it would hurt "party unity" if the delegates from these states were allowed to vote. After all, they had strayed from the "party line." Of course, the fact that it would help him politically never crossed his "principled" mind.

Now things are different. Obama has the Democrat nomination all tied up with a bow. And now that he is slipping in the polls against McCain, he needs every possible Florida and Michigan Democrat voter out there working for him. (A month ago, Obama was leading McCain by 6 to 9 points. But the July 31, 2008 Gallup Poll now has them neck and neck.)

Of course, now it doesn't matter if they're allowed to vote. Before it would have hurt him, since most of the Democrat delegates in those states were Clinton supporters. So of course he took a "principled" stand for "the good of the party."

But now that he's the nominee, allowing the Florida and Michigan delegates to vote just means that there will be more people fainting and worshipping him at the convention. The vote will be like an "election" in Cuba. You can vote, but only for Castro. So since Obama knows he will get their votes, his "principles" regarding the Florida and Michigan delegates has undergone the aforementioned 180 degree turnabout.

Obama constantly bleats about "change," but he never tells us what will change. Don't waste your time waiting for him to tell you. All you will hear is what you have heard; flowery speeches about greatness and a better America. You won't hear any specifics, because Kennedy and the rest of the Democrat political machine haven't yet told him what his positions are.

(Conversation between Kennedy and Obama overheard in the Senate cloakroom: "When I want your opinion, I'll tell you what it is."

You won't find out who the "real Obama" is by listening to him. The only way to gain an understanding of what this young Socialist is all about is to watch what he does. A few months ago he took a stand on principle, and declared that the Florida and Michigan voters should not be allowed to vote in order to preserve "part unity."

This week someone reminded him that the Democrat party is supposedly the party where "every vote should count." The mean old Republicans are supposed to be the ones trying to keep people from voting.

So he now has a new "principled stand." He is appealing to the DNC on behalf of the poor, pitiful, disenfranchised voters of Florida and Michigan to "do the right thing" and allow their delegates to vote at his coronation. And he's doing it in the name of "party unity"! Of course, the fact that it will help him politically never crossed his "principled" mind.

The sad thing is that most Democrats won't remember that he was the one who led the fight to keep the Florida and Michigan delegates from voting. It's not that they're stupid. It's more that they need to put this "inconvenient truth" out of their minds so that they can worship their new messiah with a clear mind.

(Argument between two Democrats: An Obama worshipper yells at a Florida delegate who had the nerve to speak about Obama's previous "principled" position. "My mind is made up; don't try to confuse me with facts!")
