With a President Like This, Who Needs Enemies?

It seems that Obama has devised a strategy to deal with those who continually criticize the United States. He's doing it for them. Or perhaps the reason he was so critical of our nation during his second European Tour is less complicated than that: He's the same anti-American internationalist that he’s always been. He was just doing what came naturally.

It seems that Obama has devised a strategy to deal with those who continually criticize the United States. He’s doing it for them. Or perhaps the reason he was so critical of our nation during his second European Tour is less complicated than that: He’s the same anti-American internationalist that he’s always been. He was just doing what came naturally.

It was frankly embarrassing. He even made liberals like Clinton and Carter look like patriots. Obama has always admired everything European, and he praised his fawning audiences lavishly. But when he deigned to mention the country he supposedly represents, it was to criticize her or APOLOGIZE for her.

That’s what infuriated me and every red-blooded American who listened to him. It wasn’t his criticism of the greatest nation on earth; we’re used to that. He’s an ungrateful whiner, and that’s not likely to change any time soon. But for this European wannabe to stand in front of television cameras in a foreign land and APOLOGIZE for the United States was unforgivable.

This was not the first time. He apologized for America on his first European Tour in Berlin last July. Most presidential candidates use every precious moment during their campaigns to share their hearts with the American people. But this arrogant politician took time out to campaign in Europe! That was the first time he endeared himself to foreigners by criticizing the US and apologizing for us.

Even Europeans were appalled by his diatribe against the United States. The London Telegraph called his words, “The most critical remarks an America president has ever made on foreign soil.”

He had the gall to apologize for our “arrogance.” What arrogance? No nation has even been stronger, and none has ever been as humble. The Roman and British Empires, both birthed in Europe, were never as strong as the United States. And they were supremely arrogant.

Those empires used their strength to steal from the world. Rome took slaves and gold. Britain took natural resources and taxed the nations under her influence (including ours) unmercifully. The United States never claimed to own nations it conquered, as Rome and Britain did. Instead, we humbly gave them money to rebuild, and helped them reestablish their governments. If that is arrogant, then I don’t know what the word means.

Europe as we know it today would not exist were it not for the United States of America. Europeans would all be speaking German. We shed American blood and saved the free nations of Europe – not once, but twice. After the Second World War, America rebuilt a decimated Europe with the Marshall Plan. Our money was the foundation for Europe’s prosperity today.

Obama told his European audience, “Instead of celebrating your dynamic union there have been times when America has shown arrogance, and been dismissive; even derisive.”

Let’s look at just how “dynamic” the European Union actually is. Four Western European nations have refused to join. The majority of the people in four current member nations voted against joining; they only joined when they were given special concessions not enjoyed by other member nations, creating an unequal alliance. And over 40% of the 27 member nations (including Great Britain) still refuse to adopt the Euro as their currency.

The American equivalent of the fragmented European Union would look like this: Eight states totally reject joining the United States. Another eight have three senators instead of two, and pay fewer taxes. And twenty states print their own money instead of using the dollar!

As for being “arrogant, dismissive and derisive,” that’s exactly how Obama was described when he spoke to a group of American business leaders just before he left for his European Tour. (See LINK to “So Who is Arrogant, Dismissive, and Derisive?” below).

When the businessmen tried to explain the complexities of the finance and banking industries to Obama, he arrogantly interrupted them. His derisive warning to them: “Be careful how you make those statements. The public isn’t buying that. My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”

To quote the columnist, Kim Priestap, “The imagery behind Obama’s threat couldn’t be more obvious: comply with my demands or I will make sure you are harassed, intimidated, and run out of town on a rail. He made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. Don Corleone couldn’t have said it better.”

In France Obama spoke dismissively of America’s “ failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world.” He probably has something there. Let’s see, when was it that Europe showed world leadership? Was it when civil war and genocide engulfed their next-door neighbors in the Balkans? No, they never made a move until America led the way. What about when Iraq invaded tiny Kuwait and threatened the entire Middle East? Yes, Europe was in the lead – right behind the United States.

But conservative talk show host Mark Levin notes that Europe has led in certain areas. Colonialism, Imperialism, Communism, Fascism and Naziism were all birth in Europe and spread from there.

For a guy living in the White House, Obama seems to know precious little about how things really are in the world. Or maybe he just prefers to spin the facts to suit his dreams of an international government (with Obama as Emperor, of course).

So let’s educate Mr. Obama. Fact: America spends $500 Billion every year keeping the world, the sea lanes, and the air free and safe. Fact: We spend more money defending Europe than Europe does!

Like it or not, we have been thrust into the role of the world’s police department. Europe spends practically nothing on defense. And why should they? Uncle Sam has troops and bases all over Europe.

In Town Hall meeting in France Obama wouldn’t let Americans ask questions. He said, “I want to take questions from my French and German and European friends.” Talk about arrogance. Who does he think pays his salary, and pays for his trips to campaign in front of foreign citizens?

Nationally syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer is one of my favorites. In his quiet way, he summed up the issue of the relationship between Europe and the United States: “Europe has been sucking on America’s teat for 60 years - parasitically.” And he captured the outrage of patriotic Americans when they heard what Obama said in Europe: “In order to attain the adoration of the crowds he denigrated his country in a way that I think is disgraceful.”

While Obama was speaking on his European Tour, huge banners were held up by the adoring crowds that read, “One Currency! One Country!” They were talking Obama’s language. He won’t rest until we are absorbed, politically and financially, by a One-World Government.
