Obama's Preparing to Lose This Time

The bigger problem is not that voters will not vote for Obama because he's black, but that voters will vote for Obama somply because he IS partly black. An empty suit is an empty suit, regardless of the color of the suit, and audacity and inexperience are not acceptable substitutes for presidential demeanor and experience.

Despite the huge media help for his chief rival and misleading polls, Republican Senator John Sidney McCain is likely to be elected America's next President.

That much heralded and reported trip to the Middle East and Europe did not do what Team Obama needed it to do.

Yes, Obama drew a big crowd in Germany (where Hitler drew much bigger ones).

So what?

Muhammed Ali was more popular than Obama, but that didn't make him a viable presidential prospect.

Without the much hoped for big bounce and with the polls within the margin of error and his history of doing better in polls than in primaries, Obama shamelessly played the race card for two reasons: to persuade naive and/or guilt-ridden white voters to support him as the "best" black presidential hopeful they have encountered and to lay the groundwork for losing to McCain.

Make no mistake: if rookie United States Senator and presumptive 2008 Democrat presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is not elected President of the United States in 2008, racism will be to blame (according to Team Obama).

It won't be Obama's youth, inexperience, lack of substantial accomplishment, audacity or presumptuousness.

It won't be Obama's spiritual mentor, black liberation theologian Rev. Jeremiah A. "God damn America" Wright, Jr.

It won't be Obama's association with the likes of William "domestic terrorist" Ayers.

It won't be Obama's wife, the former Michelle "Black Community first and foremost" LaVaughn Robinson, and her lack of pride in America and perception of America as "mean."

It won't be Obama's lack of military experience.

It won't be Obama's lack of executive experience.

After all, Obama has told us that he is impelled by "the fierce urgency of now" and he was elected to the Illinois state senate TWICE before he was promoted to junior United States Senator from Illinois and he waited more than A YEAR before declaring himself a candidate for President of the United States, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States and Leader of the Free World.

It won't be because he's running against an authentic American war hero who chose a military career instead of law school and community organizing and served in the United States House of Representatives for two terms before beginning a United States Senate career that has spanned more than twenty years.

It won't be because McCain earned a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit, a Distinguished Flying Cross, a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, a Meritorious Service Medal, an Air Medal, a Navy Commendation Medal, a Combat Action Ribbon and a Prisoner of War Medal 9to list some of McCain's awards) and Obama didn't even join the Peace Corps.

It won't be because the liberal media bias in favor of Obama finally became counterproductive.

It won't be because that McCain television commercial comparing the celebrity of Obama to the celebrity of a couple of blonde white females (Britney Spears and Paris Hilton) hit a chord with voters who realized that celebrities like Joe Namath and Michael Jordan can lead their teams to championships but that does not mean they are fit for the Presidency of the United States.

I am glad that Obama said that he did not look like "those other presidents" on the one-dollar bill (George Washington) and the five-dollar bill (Abraham Lincoln).

Obviously, he was being presumptuous.

Of course, he was playing the race card. Again.

But this time he was called on it, very effectively.

I do wish that Obama was proud of his middle name, like such twentieth century Democrat presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Lyndon Baines Johnson, James Earl Carter and William Jefferson Clinton. (Note: Harry Truman had a middle initial--S--but no middle name, but he was proud of his S.)

Amusingly, liberal Democrat types who insisted on referring to Republican President Richard M. (for Milhouse) Nixon simply as "Milhouse" are apoplectic when Obama's full name is mentioned and apparently oblivious to the hypocrisy of their complaining about the use of Obama's full name.

But that's the current state of presidential politics.

Warning to McCain supporters: DON"T SAY THAT OBAMA DOES LOOK LIKE LINCOLN (or else Team Obama may claim that you are playing the race card).

Surprise!

During the Civil War, there were Democrats demanding that the war be stopped.

Copperheads (aptly named after the poisonous snake) not only demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities, they reviled Lincoln for continuing the military campaign against the South.

(Attacks on the intelligence and appearance of Republicans has been in the Democrat playbook since the Republicans came into being.)

George McClellan, the Democrat presidential nominee in 1864, referred to Lincoln as an idiot and "the original gorilla" (Jennifer L. Weber, Copperheads: The Rise and Fall of Lincoln's Opponents in the North, p.183) (italics in the original).

(McClellan had been one of Lincoln's generals, but when the soldiers voted--and their votes were separately counted--Republican Lincoln swamped the Democrat name caller, 116,887 to 33,748.)

Fittingly, Lincoln put doing what is right for America ahead of winning an election, even a presidential election.

On August 23, 1864, Lincoln wrote a note at the Executive Mansion signed by members of his Cabinet.

The note read: "This morning, as fort some days past, it seems exceedingly probable that this Administration will not be reelected. Then it will be my duty to so co-operate with the President elect, as to save the Union between the election and the inauguration; as he will have secured his election on such ground that he cannot possibly save it afterward."

Who is more Lincolnesque: McCain or Obama?

Hint: Don't be fooled by things like height, lankiness or skin color. The one who is more Lincolnesque is the one who supported The Surge because he knew it was the right thing to do, knowing that if he was mistaken, his presidential possibility was through.

Who is more Washingtonesque: McCain or Obama?

Hint: McCain spent more than twenty years in military service; Obama did not spend a second, but he wants to go immediately from civilian to Commander-in-Chief.

Good grief!

The bigger problem is not that voters will not vote for Obama because he's black, but that voters will vote for Obama because he IS partly black. An empty suit is an empty suit, regardless of the color of the suit, and audacity and inexperience are not acceptable substitutes for presidential demeanor and experience.
