"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -19 (see trends).

"Looking at Tuesday's upcoming primaries, the GOP race in Alabama is essentially a three-way tie, while Mitt Romney leads by eight in Mississippi. Nationally, Romney now leads Rick Santorum by 12 points. Regardless of who they want to win, 80% of Republican Primary Voters nationwide believe Romney will be the party's nominee.

"With the perception growing that he will be the GOP nominee, Romney leads President Obama by five points in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. Today's numbers show Romney at 48%, Obama at 43%. "If Santorum is the Republican nominee, he is up by one point over the president, 46% to 45%. This is the second time since polling began in 2011 that Santorum has had a slight lead over Obama. Despitboth Team Obama and his Republican rivals targeting him relentlessly, Mitt Romney is still positioned to make Obama a one-term president and turn things around.

Thanks be to God. Not Obama, or Santorum, or Gingrich.

Undecideds traditionally break overwhelmingly against the incumbent.

That would be Obama.

Obama is down by five to Romney but down by only one to Santorum.

Santorum has not been targeted the way Romney has, and is unlikely to survive what would be an onslaught against him by Team Obama and the liberal media establishment.

There are reasons why Santorum lost his re-election race in 2006 by the largest margin of an incumbent United States Senator in Pennsylvania history, and there are reasons why he voted against his better judgment on No Child Left Behind and supported pro-abortion Arlen Specter, not only for re-election to the Senate, but also as a presidential candidate.

They are not GOOD reasons that reflect well on him.

Romney will win unless the Santorum and Gingrich fans decide to let Obama win and try again in 2016.

Like Romney in 2008, when it became clear to him that he could not beat McCain and he withdrew and then enthusiastically supported the McCain-Palin ticket, Santorum and Gingrich should put aside their personal ambition and pride and back Romney.

America can't afford either to wait four more years to end the Age of Obama or to indulge the egos of Santorum and Gingrich.

Michael J. Gaynor has been practicing law in New York since 1973. A former partner at Fulton, Duncombe & Rowe and Gaynor & Bass, he is a solo practitioner admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts and an Association of the Bar of the City of New York member.

Gaynor graduated magna cum laude, with Honors in Social Science, from Hofstra University's New College, and received his J.D. degree from St. John's Law School, where he won the American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence and served as an editor of the Law Review and the St. Thomas More Institute for Legal Research. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed, 7 to 2, holding that the copyrights of freelance writers had been infringed when their work was put online without permission or compensation.

Gaynor currently contributes regularly to www.MichNews.com, www.RenewAmerica.com, www.WebCommentary.com, www.PostChronicle.com and www.therealitycheck.org and has contributed to many other websites. He has written extensively on political and religious issues, notably the Terry Schiavo case, the Duke "no rape" case, ACORN and canon law, and appeared as a guest on television and radio.
