Bill Kristol Owes Kayleigh McEnany a HUGE Apology
The current presidential race apparently has unhinged Weekly Standard honcho Bill Kristol.
With the unprecedented political rise of 2016 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump notwithstanding Kristol's ardent opposition, Kristol has moved from Fox News to CNN (Clinton Network News), where he fits nicely as a Trump basher who had opposed the Clintons and President Obama.
Last Friday I watched Jake Tapper's show, on which both Kristol and Trump supporter Kayleigh McEnany appeared and was astonished and saddened by Kristol.
Kristol reiterated that he would not vote for Hillary Clinton, based on things like the Obama Administration's withdrawal from Iraq that led to the rise of Isis, or Trump, allegedly because Trump is much too dangerous to be President.
When McEnany rebutted him on the merits and pointed out that critical Supreme Court nominations would be made by the next President--a point that Kristol could not dispute, Kristol's frustration and anger got the best of him and he proceeded to berate McEnany for not really believing what she was saying.
Kristol offered viewers only his word for that.
Essentially, Kristol called McEnany a political prostitute who was lying for Trump.
Whether or not it was sexist, it was both pathetic and disgusting.
McEnany is a conservative pundit. She graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a BSFS in International Politics. She also studied politics and international relations at Oxford University, St. Edmund Hall.
As a CNN commentator, McEnany appears nightly on CNN’s primetime shows and throughout its daytime programming. Before joining CNN, she appeared on ABC’s “The View” and was regularly featured on various Fox News and Fox Business programs.
In addition, McEnany was a columnist for Above The Law, providing textualist analysis of legal issues, and has written for The Daily Caller, The Blaze, Newsmax, PJ Media, The International Business Times, Breitbart and CNN.com.
McEnany was not intimidated.
McEnany's pinned tweet at https://twitter.com/kayleighmcenany is this inspirational quote from the late Justice Scalia, whose replacement on the United States Supreme Court certainly appears to be much more important to McEnany than to Kristol: "Have the courage to have your wisdom regarded as stupidity Be fools for Christ... & suffer the contempt of the sophisticated world."
McEnany does not deserve the contempt of the "sophisticated" Kristol.
Kristol's malevolent misbehavior was contemptible. He should apologize and rethink his attitude toward conservatives like McEnany (and Trump).
