The Quasi-Treasonous Working Hard for Defeat

Every once in a while, the members of the Democrat Party display their true colors. When it comes to national security and fighting armed conflicts that true color is yellow.
Thankfully, the Republican-led Senate on Thursday rejected the Democrats plans to start the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq. The Democrats knew their different retreat timetables would fail, but the obvious reason for proposing these asinine bills is to attempt to gain control of both houses of congress in November.
Meanwhile, the news media are reporting that Republicans defeated the two proposals -- one of which was pushed by the quasi-treasonous Sen. John Kerry -- in support of President George W. Bush's policies in the war despite the fact that the war has caused his approval ratings to plummet. The canard of why Bush is experiencing only a 40% approval rating is almost laughable.
Bush is unpopular because of his support for the Senate's amnesty program for illegal aliens and the mounting concerns of Americans over the lack of protection at US borders. Many Americans are angry -- this writer included -- over his close relationship with Mexico's President Vicente Fox. More than a few citizens are angry over Bush's fascination with globalism and his desire to erase US border with Mexico and Canada.
Had the president favored the House of Representative's immigration bill and told Fox to get lost, his poll numbers would be at least 10% higher.
The Democrats' attempt to portray themselves as capable warriors is also laughable. Even their "human shield" Rep. John Murtha played the fool with NBC News' Tim Russert during an interview. Murtha proposed that the US redeploy its troops to Okinawa and if necessary they could be quickly deployed back to Iraq. Even Russert knew that was a pipe dream. The Pentagon told him that a deployment of only 8,000 Marines would take up to a month. Hardly a rapid deployment plan. Murtha looked dumbfounded when Russert reported that, so Murtha said he meant planes not troops.
Murtha has done more to hurt the image of the US military than any other Democrat lawmaker, which is a tough distinction to achieve with the likes of Kerry, who's had decades of experience in betraying the US military, Sen. Dick Durbin, who called troops Nazis and that left-wing blowhard Sen. Russ Feingold running around.
The Democrats proposed two amendments for the withdrawal from Iraq. The first was a nonbinding resolution broadly backed by Democrats that urged withdrawing troops this year but without setting a deadline for completion which failed to pass by a 60-39 vote.
Another amendment -- Kerry's -- to put into law a plan to start withdrawing combat forces immediately and complete the process by next July failed 86-13.
In a politically charged debate, Republicans cast Iraq as central to the war on terrorism and branded Democrats as divided and weak on the issue. One of the biggest chuckles I enjoyed was when Sen. Harry Reid said that the US must withdraw in order to fight Al-Qaeda. Of course, Sen. Reid isn't too swift in the intelligence department or he would have figured out that we are already fighting Al-Qaeda in Iraq. In other words, Reid's plan is to cut and run from our fight with Al-Qaeda so we can go and fight Al-Qaeda.
Not only are the Democrats toying with treason, they're also toying with stupidity.
Democrats told Reuters that they believe the US is squandering hundreds of billions of dollars on Bush's failing policies. Funny, but after fighting the war on poverty for over 30 years and spending over $2 TRILLION dollars the extorted from Americans, I don't hear Democrats calling for withdrawal from these expensive poverty programs. Also, they should know that the US spends only about 6% of the US GDP on the military.
Government schools have cost Americans much more in dollars and human treasure -- by treasure I mean kids who learned how to use condoms and how to masturbate, but can't read or write worth a lick. Perhaps the government should withdraw from educating kids.
But Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said the Senate's choice was "between doing nothing, the so-called stay the course option that the president and his supporters advocate, or changing the course and providing our troops and the Iraqi people a way forward."
How retreating from an enemy is a "way forward" boggles the mind. Once again, the liberal-left lunatics are attempting to change the meaning of words so that retreat means redeployment, backing down means providing a way forward, and treason or betrayal means patriotism.
