Ted Cruz is Dead, but He Refuses to Admit It

Why does Texas Sen. Ted Cruz keep acting as if he still had a viable campaign? No one believes it; not even he does. Prior to the illegal election of the John Doe calling himself “Barack Hussein Obama,” and the laws that were ignored on his behalf, Cruz wouldn’t even have been considered eligible for the presidency.

A 1984 episode of the classic, humorous, TV horror show, Tales from the Dark Side, “A Case of the Stubborns,” was about an old man who dies, but who refuses to admit it. His family tells him he’s dead, but Grandpa Titus Tolliver (Eddie Bracken) insists he’s still alive. However, like it or not, he starts decomposing. Finally, one day, Grandpa’s nose falls off! Then he embarrassedly resigns himself to being dead, and goes and lies down on his bed.

On Tuesday, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’ nose fell off, but will he acknowledge that his presidential campaign is dead?

Far be it from me to condemn a man for stubbornness. While I’m an easygoing feller, I live in a home surrounded by bullheaded types.

In spite of being up against two rivals, Donald Trump got over 50% of the vote in a sweep of all five primaries, and even swept every county.

Trump’s enemies used to say, “He’s got a ceiling of 30%.” Then it was, “He’s got a ceiling of 35%.” So, what are they going to say now? “He’s got a ceiling of 60%”? On Tuesday, Trump averaged over 55% (54.4-63.8%). Meanwhile, Cruz averaged under 20% (10.4-21.6%), and only beat Kasich, and barely at that, in Pennsylvania. (The late campaign of Marco Rubio, who declared himself dead seven weeks ago, still has more delegates than Kasich!) And yet, Cruz and his spokesmen keep on saying that Trump is a marginal candidate. Even CNN’s David Gergen, a political chameleon, said on Monday night that it’s ridiculous for people supporting Cruz, who has much less support, to keep on calling call Trump a “marginal, fringe” candidate.

Cruz CNN mouthpiece (though she’s never identified as such) Kara Setmayer doubled down on Wednesday night, responding in her usual smug fashion that Trump has no chance in blue states. As if Ted Cruz did? Setmayer was talking about states in which registered Democrats enjoyed a 3-1 advantage over registered Republicans.

No honest person could promote Cruz in such states, but this is Kara Setmayer we’re talking about, who flacks for a candidate who triumphed over Dr. Ben Carson by spreading the lie asserting that Carson had dropped out! Cruz likewise engaged in a dirty tricks campaign against Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. And the past week saw Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich enter into a Molotov–Ribbentrop-style, non-aggression pact to beat Trump, although that pact, which helped nobody but Trump, seems to have already collapsed. Thus, Ted Cruz is both dirty and a loser!

Let me tell you about registration imbalances. In 1993 and 1997 in New York City, the bluest city this side of San Francisco, and where registered Democrats held a 5-1 edge over registered Republicans, Republican Rudy Giuliani beat socialist incumbent Mayor David Dinkins in 1993, in the closest election ever held there. In 1997, Giuliani beat socialist incumbent Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger in a landslide. And truth be told, in 1989, in what at that point was the closest election in New York City history, among living voters, Giuliani, who had never held elective office, beat incumbent socialist Manhattan Borough President Dinkins, only to lose, on account of the Dead Democrats for Dinkins vote. (In 1989, while I was reporting a story on the death of Democratic Socialists of America co-founder Michael Harrington, a source at DSA proudly told me that Dinkins was a member of DSA.)

The crucial factor in registration imbalances is race. An infinitesimal number of black registered Democrats will cross over to vote for a Republican; however, huge numbers of white registered Democrats will cross over. (There’s a name for the white crossover voters: “Reagan Democrats.”) However, a great many blacks will stay home on Election Day, if the Democratic candidate is not black, or if they consider him not “black enough.” Thus, while Mayor David Dinkins enjoyed a huge black turnout and at least 95% of the black vote in 1989 and 1993, a substantial proportion of those black voters stayed home in 1997, when incumbent socialist Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger was the Democratic candidate. (While millions of white feminists delude themselves that they have rapport with black women, black women generally hate white women. This divergence was most dramatically brought home, first, when prosecutor Marcia Clark insisted she could get through to black female jurors, despite the findings of test juries that black women hated her, and second, by the delirious celebrations that black women engaged in, coast-to-coast, when a racist jury acquitted O.J. Simpson of butchering his white ex-wife, Nicole, and her white friend, Ron Goldman.)

However, that sort of situation will not occur with a Hillary Clinton candidacy. Hillary did not have any black rivals to beat, and blacks still fondly recall Bill Clinton as the “first black president,” and will thus vote early and often for Hillary, as they did for Al Gore in 2000, and will seek, via intimidation and violence, to thwart whites from voting for Trump.

Trump has been the presumptive Republican nominee since March 1, and yet his enemies in the Republican Party and the MSM have constantly denied this reality. On Tuesday, one of his enemies’ TV mouthpieces lied and said, “You’re not the presumptive nominee until you have 1,237 delegates.”

No, once you have 1,237 delegates, you’re the nominee, pure and simple, no qualifier. The only point to calling someone the “presumptive nominee,” is because the frontrunner doesn’t yet have the required number of delegates, but is a lock to get them.

On the eve of Tuesday’s primaries, Ted Cruz’ chief flack denied that the results, whatever they would be, would have any effect on Cruz, still claimed that Trump would not make it to the 1,237 delegates required to clinch the nomination, and asserted that Cruz would go to the convention in Cleveland, and win on the second ballot.

On Tuesday, Republican writer Mary Katharine Ham asserted on cable news (I can’t recall if it was CNN or Fox News) that just because you get 1,100 delegates, “They don’t give you 1,237.”

Actually, unless you’re looking to consign the GOP to the dustbin of history, it means just that. The question regarding Ham, whom I once respected now is, Is she in Cruz’ pocket, Kasich’s, or a donor’s? (While I support Trump, I’m in nobody’s pocket. I recently twitted to him that he was stupid to promise to fix the economy overnight.)

As CNN’s John King would argue, just a few hours later that Trump could wake up on June 7, the morning of the California primary, with the required 1,237 delegates in his pocket, and 172 more at stake that day, Trump could waltz into the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on July 18 with 1,400 delegates of his own, without any help needed from Rubio’s 171 or 172 delegates. Thus, all Ham did was expose herself as a bitter, anti-Trump dead-ender. If she’d been smart, she’d have kept her hatred of Trump to herself.

Around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, some of the lefty talking heads at CNN finally admitted that Trump is the “presumptive nominee” of the Republican Party.

Instead of bowing out, and going off to lie down on his bed, late Wednesday afternoon Ted Cruz acted as if he, not Trump, had just swept five primaries the day before, and named affirmative action baby Carly Fiorina, the woman who ruined Hewlett-Packard, to be his vice-presidential running mate. Vice president of what?

Fiorina has business experience, alright—the experience of failure!

The sore loser Cruz already said months ago that he would not honor his promise to support whoever the winner of the primary process was, if Trump is the candidate, and that he would refuse to even vote for Trump.

If Ted Cruz wants to hang around without a nose on his face, that’s his corpsely prerogative. As for John Kasich, we’ll hopefully find out one day what dark demons urge him on.

In the meantime, get ready for Trump vs. Clinton, which promises to be one of the wildest rides in American electoral history—what’s left of it!
