Bombastic Barry

The late Tonight Show host Johnny Carson used to refer to his lawyer as “Bombastic Bushkin.” Every time I hear the President speak on his taxpayer funded campaign trips I struggle to come up with a word to describe his arrogant all-knowing tone. Bombastic covers it very well.

Bombastic can be defined as language with a theatricality or staginess of style far too powerful or declamatory for the meaning or sentiment being expressed: a bombastic oratory on the “evils” of being a Christian, Constitutionalist, capitalist or Republican.

The President’s oratorical style was evident as a student at Harvard. Did it then reflect an innate genius for persuasive community organizing? Is his convincing style a magnet for evil forces who found an angry man they could manipulate? Their goals for a one world government center on the United States and its people reduced to just another starving Zimbabwe. Does he recognize he is a key player in a warfare that can only be defined as spiritual and that he is on the wrong side of the battle? He did after all, swear a solemn oath "to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic."

The President accuses his opponents of "leaving everyone to fend for himself" while implying he would care for the people. He doesn't have the foggiest notion how a free society works and how we in fact have taken care of one another and anyone in the world who needs help, long before the first "progressive" got the idea that controlling people's lives is a good thing.

Anyone who is paying attention knows that his bombastic style does a pretty adequate job of covering for widespread corruption and tendency to violence of those who lurk in the halls of government, among money manipulators and other thieves. Are useful idiots on the angry streets waiting for the signal from their masters? Do they really want America the beautiful only a distorted memory in the minds of the brainwashed generations who were taught to hate her? Do they even think of their children?

The joy of the Lord is our strength. We’ll call the bombastic and the schemers out for every lie, yet continue to pray for them and our beloved country.
