The Virtue of Coups and Winning Propaganda Wars

Today, as America faces an Iran highly unpopular with its people and a Kim Jong Il who is as insane as he is evil, it is worth recalling the sanctimonious haughtiness of Sinisterists in America who sought throughout the 1950s through the 1970s to keep the hands of our covert operations antiseptically clean.

So, our installation of the most benign ruler Iran possessed in the last fifty years, a friend of America, a military ally in west Asia, an enemy of communism, a supporter of religious toleration and gender equality, an advocate of public education, and a Moslem leader friendlier to Israel than any other was a terrible crime by the CIA and its predecessors because...he was not perfect.

The cost in human misery and the very real triggering of at least a regional nuclear war is something Sinisterists in America will never apologize for producing (because they never apologize for their crimes – opposing Stalinism, not supporting Stalinism – remains the grand sin in those institutions of drooling ignorance and Orwellian irrationalism.)

Yet what America ought to do is unleash the power of Hollywood (well, not “Hollywood,” but rather decent, normal people who are actual Americans) and the same highly effective OSS and CIA covert activities to accomplish two parallel goals.  Not only are these both cheap, not that cheapness matters with the specter of mushroom clouds over Tokyo or Tel Aviv are emerging nightmares, but more critically, these parallel strategies are effective.

First, Congress and the White House should invest tens or hundreds of billions of dollars to sell the American Dream to the world.  We should begin to make Mexicans mad at their corrupt rulers, the people of Venezuela furious at their Castro-loving thug, the peoples of the Middle East see that it is not rapacious Zionists or American imperialists which have transformed that part of Earth which once was paradise into Hell.

This means the American government, and tax dollars, institute the equivalent of a Marshall Plan to sell American values to the whole world and, critically, to expose the nasty creation of Americans, Jews, Christians and Israel as convenient scapegoats.  This means inspiring Libyans, Syrians, Chinese, Pakistanis and many others into rage against their true tormentors.

This means waging war against evil thought the power of great ideas and noble principles.  Is this “un-American”?  Only those un-Americans in America, that small percentage who still call themselves “liberal,” would think so (assuming, of course, they think.)  America was founded specifically as a nation preaching to the world.  Liberals, when they read (assuming, of course, they can read), the Declaration of Independence will find a document directed to the conversion of the world to the notion of liberty.

Second, Congress and the President should begin at once supporting covertly the overthrow of every single bad government in the world.  We should offer unqualified support to whoever casts the Baathists out of power in Syria, the mullahs out of power in Teheran, and Kim Jong Il out of power in the People’s Democratic Republic of Auschwitz.  We should fund secret armies to overthrow bad governments.  We should try to sow the seeds of mistrust among the gangsters of the world, whose Mafia is often called the United Nations.

Does that not create the danger of “blowback”?  In other words, could a junta in Teheran produce a worse government?  Only if our strategy is ad hoc and if it is nourished with weak broth.  Why?  Because if new bad guys took over in Teheran, and we should do all we can to prevent that, then at once we should work with money, special forces, propaganda, intelligence and the rest to overthrow them as well.  In short, America should be feared for its power to end any evil realm from within cheaply and without placing American troops in more danger than necessary.

The same Sinisterists who bizarrely persuaded America that it was somehow unsporting to crush North Vietnam through actions which would cost no American lives (having four Iowa-class battleships pummel with highly accurate conventional naval guns into submission; mining Haiphong Harbor; sending American special forces into North Vietnam to kill their leaders and cause every communist leader to spend each night in dread) have also persuaded Americans that the informational superpower with vast wealth and a global reach should fight our war against evil in the same “sporting” sense (with as much blood – American or peoples we are liberating – shed as possible.)

America and what it represents should be feared by every thug, every goon, every “President for Life,” in the world, and this fear should be from what America can do to turn his own inmate subjects against him and his own mafia “pals” against him at least as much as from what our gallant military can do to his conscript slave armies.
