Is Barack Obama Eligible to be President of the United States?
Revised and updated version of yesterday's column

Several timely lawsuits seek to determine Obama's eligibility to be President of the United States. Democrats and Obama are actively seeking to block the release of documents that could confirm his eligibility. Why? And where is the media outcry?

It's a simple question: "Is Barack Hussein Obama a natural born citizen of the US?"

It is not only a simple question, it is a critically important timely question because the U.S. Constitution requires every candidate for President of the United States be a natural born citizen:

ARTICLE II

Section 1

... Qualification of President. ...

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption ofthis Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

Was Obama really born in Kenya as some of his Kenyan relatives have claimed?

Why won't Obama simply produce evidence to prove he is "a natural born" citizen as required by the U.S. Constitution? Material posted on a website does not constitute sufficient evidence of a person being a natural born citizen, particularly when there are questions about the authenticiy of any online document. Recall the forged documents used by Dan Rather to try to discredit President Bush in 2004.

Why does Obama refuse to allow public access to:

His Occidental College records?
His Columbia University records?
His Harvard University records?
His Illinois Senate Office records?
His medical records?

What is Barack Hussein Obama hiding? And why?

The American people deserve forthright, straightforward answers to each of these important questions.

But most important of all, the American people are entitled to a fair election (without ACORN fraud) between candidates who are both eligible to seek the Presidency of the United States.

There are at least two lawsuits seeking to determine the validity of evidence suggesting Barack Obama is not eligible to seek the Presidency. There is a simple remedy to these lawsuits that Obama could supply: a valid, authentic birth certificate proving he is a "natural born citizen" of the United States. Yet Obama has steadfastly refused to produce such evidence, apparently hoping to ride it out until after the election where removing him from office would be more complicated.

Here are details of the two lawsuits:

Hawaii lawsuit: filed by Andy Martin, columnist and author of a book on Senator Barack Obama ("Senator Obama"). Martin has also been writing columns and commentary about the senator for over four years.
Philadelphia lawsuit: The Cleveland Leader story about the lawsuit filed by Philip J. Berg, Esq., a lifelong Democrat, former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General, 37 years licensed to practice law, former Montgomery County, PA, Chairman of the Democratic Party, 31 years a Democratic Committee Member. In response to Martin's request for a certified copy of Obama's birth certificate, the Governor of Hawaii, Linda Lingle, and the Hawaiian Director of the Department of Health, Dr. Chiyome Fukino have both blocked access to Barack Obama's birth certificate. In response to the Berg lawsuit, Obama has filed a motion to dismiss and a motion for protective order which would prevent Obama from having to turn over any documents. Why?

Finally, why hasn't the so-called "mainstream" media demanded access to Obama's records and pressed for a straight answer to this important question? Had John McCain stonewalled efforts to get a straight answer when John McCain's status as a "natural born citizen" was raised, you wouldn't have heard the end of it. But then, McCain produced his records.
