Five Lies About the Anti-Reform Mobs

A recent email from the DNC complains that Republicans are organizing resistance to the Obama dash toward spending the country into bankruptcy while socializing health care, energy production, banking, insurance, and automobile production in the United States.

Recently, I received an email from Jen O'Malley Dillon, Executive Director, Democratic National Committee, subject: "5 facts about the anti-reform mobs." Essentially, the email complains that Republicans are organizing resistance to the Obama dash toward spending the country into bankruptcy while socializing health care, energy production, banking, insurance, and automobile production in the United States.

Evidently, Democrats cannot believe that the American people would actually oppose such an agenda! After all, didn't they vote for "change"?

In an ironic twist, the Democrats' complaint is based on their perception that the GOP is using the same tactics that have been the stock-in-trade of Democrats for the past four decades! It is even more ironic that the GOP, while certainly supportive of protests, is really not organizing these efforts, as the Democrats complain they are.

Maybe they should be.

Even the DNC email subject contains three glaring distortions:

  1. "5 facts" - not one of the claimed "facts" are true. The message simply identifies five lies the DNC wishes to spread.

  2. "anti-reform" - this is real deception, the kind of which the DNC is well-practiced. In fact, there is no "reform" in the agenda of the DNC/Obama regime. There is nothing but a plan to achieve socialist domination of all phases of American life.

  3. "mobs" - clearly a mischaracterization that contradicts the evidence. Were citizens expressing their outrage at unconstitutional excesses of Republicans, they'd be labeled peaceful "demonstrators" by the DNC. Only when Democrat outrages are being assailed, do citizen's become an organized "mob" in the eyes of the DNC! Typical DNC doublespeak.
Apparently, this message is designed to incite the Party faithful.

What are the five "facts" Democrats claim?

From the email (with my comment following each of the lies presented as "facts"):

  1. These disruptions are being funded and organized by out-of-district special-interest groups and insurance companies who fear that health insurance reform could help Americans, but hurt their bottom line. A group run by the same folks who made the "Swiftboat" ads against John Kerry is compiling a list of congressional events in August to disrupt. An insurance company coalition has stationed employees in 30 states to track where local lawmakers hold town-hall meetings.

These disruptions are spontaneous citizen demonstrations because their elected officials continue to ignore the fact that most Americans are happy with the health care they receive and do not want their choices jeopardized by a government-run system. Americans are sick and tired of political back room deals and arm twisting in Washington that ignores both constituents and constitutional restraint. Civic-oriented groups and threatened companies apparently have no right to provide citizens with information that will enable them to confront their representatives. Evidently, representative government is not to be taken seriously when Democrats are in power.

  2. People are scared because they are being fed frightening lies. These crowds are being riled up by anti-reform lies being spread by industry front groups that invent smears to tarnish the President's plan and scare voters. But as the President has repeatedly said, health insurance reform will create more health care choices for the American people, not reduce them. If you like your insurance or your doctor, you can keep them, and there is no "government takeover" in any part of any plan supported by the President or Congress.

"People" are not being scared, Democrat politicians are scared. People are being lied to, but it is Democrats who are doing the lying by misrepresenting the Obama agenda to achieve a "single payer" system that will control the health care of all Americans. Citizens are becoming outraged at the arrogance of their representatives who treat their constituents as simpletons who do not know what is best for them. There are no "industry front groups" except in the fertile imaginations of the DNC who cannot come to grips with the growing unpopularity of the Obama agenda. Citizen outrage is fueled by the growing realization that Obama wants to take away all insurance choices in favor of a single payer system with life and death decisions made by federal bureaucrats. Decisions would no longer be based on what treatment is best, but rather, on what treatment would cost the least. It is absolutely untrue that the system proposed by Obama would retain and assure continuation of the health care options people have today with their private insurers. Obamacare is designed to drive private insurers out of business and force everyone into the same (single-payer) government plan. That amounts to a highly deceptive "government takeover" of our health care. Naturally, people are outraged. They should be.

  3. Their actions are getting more extreme. Texas protesters brought signs displaying a tombstone for Rep. Lloyd Doggett and using the "SS" symbol to compare President Obama's policies to Nazism. Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil was hanged in effigy outside his district office. Rep. Tim Bishop of New York had to be escorted to his car by police after an angry few disrupted his town hall meeting -- and more examples like this come in every day. And they have gone beyond just trying to derail the President's health insurance reform plans, they are trying to "break" the President himself and ruin his Presidency.

Democrat lies are getting more extreme. Apparently, the DNC has no problem with the excesses of Democrat organizations that did far worse symbolic protest of the Bush administration. Show a Democrat that their term is about to end if they persist ignoring the will of the people, and that action is deemed "extreme." The only one responsible for "breaking" Obama is Barack Hussein Obama himself. He has acted with impudence, indiscretion, haste, and in complete disregard of constitutional restraint in pursuing a course designed to concentrate power in his administration. The appointment of nearly 50 czars has no place in a Constitutional Republic.

  4. Their goal is to disrupt and shut down legitimate conversation. Protesters have routinely shouted down representatives trying to engage in constructive dialogue with voters, and done everything they can to intimidate and silence regular people who just want more information. One attack group has even published a manual instructing protesters to "stand up and shout" and try to "rattle" lawmakers to prevent them from talking peacefully with their constituents.

The goal of outraged citizens is to get their representatives to listen to rather than ignore their views. Representatives who try to repeat the same old mantra are finding it difficult. The people want intelligent responses to their legitimate complaints, they do not want representatives reciting a litany of DNC talking-points. Remember, it was Obama during his campaign who urged his supporters to "get in the face of" and "argue with" anyone who did not support Obama. Apparently, passion in support of Obama is allowed, but passion in opposition to Obama is simply not to be tolerated. So much for DNC toleration of dissent. Remember, it was the Obama White House that issued a recent call for people to inform on those who oppose Obamacare. And the DNC wonders why people compare them to the SS! What's next for dissenters? Re-education camps?

  5. Republican leadership is irresponsibly cheering on the thuggish crowds. Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner issued a statement applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to "a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress."'

Republicans are finally showing some signs of life. It's about time. At least one party recognizes the right of the people to be heard. It's certainly fair for the people to have a chance to speak out about the "thuggish" Obama administration's attempt to ramrod through Congress unconstitutional takeovers of both the energy industry and health care.
Clearly, the DNC is not interested in engaging in civil discourse. So they fan the flames of discontent among their troops in the hopes they will rally to the defense of beleaguered congressional Democrats. Perhaps the DNC's intent is to create sufficient civil disorder for Obama to declare martial law, another objective of the plan to socialize America.

To quote from the DNC's message: "It's time to expose this charade, before it gets more dangerous. Please send these facts to everyone you know. You can also post them on your website, blog, or Facebook page."

Good advice. Let's expose these lying manipulators!

Biography - Bob Webster

Author of "Looking Out the Window", an evidence-based examination of the "climate change" issue, Bob Webster, is a 12th-generation descendent of both the Darte family (Connecticut, 1630s) and the Webster family (Massachusetts, 1630s). He is a descendant of Daniel Webster's father, Revolutionary War patriot Ebenezer Webster, who served with General Washington. Bob has always had a strong interest in early American history, our Constitution, U.S. politics, and law. Politically he is a constitutional republican with objectivist and libertarian roots. He has faith in the ultimate triumph of truth and reason over deception and emotion. He is a strong believer in our Constitution as written and views the abandonment of constitutional restraint by the regressive Progressive movement as a great danger to our Republic. His favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and believes it should be required reading for all high school students so they can appreciate the cost of tolerating the growth of unconstitutional crushingly powerful central government. He strongly believes, as our Constitution enshrines, that the interests of the individual should be held superior to the interests of the state.

A lifelong interest in meteorology and climatology spurred his strong interest in science. Bob earned his degree in Mathematics at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964.
