Take Back America in 2010

The recent House vote on Obamacare demonstrates once again that virtually all Democrats have shown they will always put partisan politics over what is best for our country. The same story plays out for "Cap and Trade" legislation, where Democrats label the monstrosity with tags like "energy independence" and "national defense" which have little to do with the main thrust of the bill. It comes festooned with goodies for a whole spectrum of special interests who can be counted on to look the other way so long as they get their own goodies.

The strong-arm tactics of MoveOn.org (in reality, George Soros, who threatens sitting Democrats with massive funding of their primary opponents if they do not toe his socialist anti-American line) and lackeys Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid threaten to bring to the President bills that, if signed, will cripple the American economy in the midst of the worst depression since the 1930s.

Add to this gloomy scenario, the massive debt being mounted for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for the sole purpose of getting today's politicians re-elected, and you have the makings of a national calamity that staggers the imagination and dwarfs the damage that would be done if fraudulent claims of global warming alarmists were actually true (fortunately, massive new evidence clearly demonstrates those claims to be utterly false).

Then there is the coming Treaty of Copenhagen that would be the proverbial straw that breaks the back of the American economy with its massive transfers of wealth and super-government controls, and so the gloomy picture of America's future emerges.

There is a wonderful YouTube video that is well worth the little time it takes to view. You can see it via this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=UZkvkLmkYVg

The message is clear. We, the People, need to take our country back from deceitful politicians, lying journalists, and greedy self-interest organizations who are bent on squeezing the productive American middle class to their own devious ends. They seem to believe that the American middle class, regardless of how many they put on unemployment rolls, will take whatever is thrown at them and simply pony up the cash needed to fund the socialist experiments of these political and cultural morons who always seem to believe they "know better" than those who foot the bills and fill the unemployment rolls.

Our Constitution has been trashed by absurd distortions of the meaning of words. The "General Welfare" clause is exactly that -- a "clause" that actually restricts the enumerated powers of the federal government to apply only to the general welfare of all the People and not to special interest groups. The "General Welfare" clause is restrictive; it is neither an open-ended license nor an enumerated power to legislate any federal program politicians deem supportive of the "general welfare"! The misapplication of this clause has been the most destructive abuse of our Constitution in this nation's history -- and it is getting worse. For more than 100 years, self-serving politicians have been ignoring the clear constitutional restraint on massive government and the People have been content to look the other way. That has to be stopped and reversed. It is not sufficient just to cease such perversions of our Constitution. We must take back control of this great nation and remove all extra-constitutional powers usurped by greedy self-interest politicians and restore the proper balance of governing power between the People, State governments, and Federal government.

Apparently, this nation has a real education problem, producing a populace that cannot intelligently comprehend the meaning of words and the importance of our Constitution and its severe limitations on federal powers. It is almost incomprehensible that the US federal government could grow to the massive proportions it is today by utterly disregarding the clear intent and meaning of our Constitution. Those who contend our Constitution is ambiguous or "a living document" merely betray their own lack of command of our language.

What do we do about this?

We can chant "Take Back America in 2010" as much as we want, but how is that to be done? Will the GOP purge the RINO (Republican In Name Only) politicians out of the party and open the doors to Independents and Democrats who still cherish our Constitution and its restraints on federal power? Will the GOP push for single term limits to Congress so that the seniority system is destroyed and government service returns to serving the people, not "self-service" that the permanent political class has established as the norm?

Single terms would lower the costs of elections, bring more successful people into government service for the limited term allowed, require legislators to live under their own regulations, and bring the federal government back to the severely limited concept originally intended and clearly enumerated in our Constitution. Naturally, by moving to single terms it would be wise to concurrently extend House member terms to four years, electing half of each state's contingent every two years.

Will the GOP get behind single term limits? Will a Tea Party majority have to be formed from conservatives, independents, disgruntled Democrats and disgruntled Republicans? Who will push for what the People want? Certainly not the current Socialist-Democrat ruling regime.

Clearly, the best route to success lies with reforming the GOP to reflect a strict adherence to our Constitution, meaning limited federal power and minimal intrusion into the lives of We the People. It will be up to Tea Party enthusiasts to become engaged in that reformation process. And it needs to be done yesterday.

So let's get on with it if we are to Take Back America in 2010!

Biography - Bob Webster

Author of "Looking Out the Window", an evidence-based examination of the "climate change" issue, Bob Webster, is a 12th-generation descendent of both the Darte family (Connecticut, 1630s) and the Webster family (Massachusetts, 1630s). He is a descendant of Daniel Webster's father, Revolutionary War patriot Ebenezer Webster, who served with General Washington. Bob has always had a strong interest in early American history, our Constitution, U.S. politics, and law. Politically he is a constitutional republican with objectivist and libertarian roots. He has faith in the ultimate triumph of truth and reason over deception and emotion. He is a strong believer in our Constitution as written and views the abandonment of constitutional restraint by the regressive Progressive movement as a great danger to our Republic. His favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and believes it should be required reading for all high school students so they can appreciate the cost of tolerating the growth of unconstitutional crushingly powerful central government. He strongly believes, as our Constitution enshrines, that the interests of the individual should be held superior to the interests of the state.

A lifelong interest in meteorology and climatology spurred his strong interest in science. Bob earned his degree in Mathematics at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964.
