Is "Change" Always A Good Thing?

Is the nation better off today than it was three years ago? Are the "changes" we've seen over the past three years good for our nation?

Now that the USA has had nearly three full years of "change" it's time to reflect on what has been delivered for that promise of "change" in 2008.

A few general observations:

Question:  Is the promise of "Change" always good?
  • The Russians got "change" when they allowed Marxist communists to take over their country.  How did that work out for Russians?  They got 70 years of a miserable existence.

  • The Germans got "change" when they fell for the false promises of Nazi Adolf Hitler.  How did that work out for Germans?  They got destroyed by World War II and lost their national identity for 40 years

  • The Italians got "change" when they supported the Fascist Benito Mussolini.  How did that work out for Italians?  Their nation was destroyed by the Fascists and World War II.

  • The Argentines got "change" when they supported socialist Juan Perón.  How did that work out for Argentines?
Peróns legacy of strong centralized government led to hyper-inflation and a collapse of the Argentine economy.
  • The Cubans got "change" when they supported communist Fidel Castro.  How has that worked out for Cubans?  Cuba is locked in a pre-Castro existence with equality of misery for all (except Castro's "inner circle")

  • The Venezuelans got "change" when they supported Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez.  How is that working out for Venezuelans?  Their economy and government is propped up by oil revenues. Life has not improved for the average Venezuelan.

  • And Americans got "change" when they supported the Democrat-Marxist, Barack Obama!  And how has that "change" worked out for Americans?  See the indicators for deficits, consumer prices, and unemployment above.

Answer:  Change is not always good and certainly it is not good when change turns a promise of "Hope" to the reality of "Despair" ...

Biography - Bob Webster

Author of "Looking Out the Window", an evidence-based examination of the "climate change" issue, Bob Webster, is a 12th-generation descendent of both the Darte family (Connecticut, 1630s) and the Webster family (Massachusetts, 1630s). He is a descendant of Daniel Webster's father, Revolutionary War patriot Ebenezer Webster, who served with General Washington. Bob has always had a strong interest in early American history, our Constitution, U.S. politics, and law. Politically he is a constitutional republican with objectivist and libertarian roots. He has faith in the ultimate triumph of truth and reason over deception and emotion. He is a strong believer in our Constitution as written and views the abandonment of constitutional restraint by the regressive Progressive movement as a great danger to our Republic. His favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and believes it should be required reading for all high school students so they can appreciate the cost of tolerating the growth of unconstitutional crushingly powerful central government. He strongly believes, as our Constitution enshrines, that the interests of the individual should be held superior to the interests of the state.

A lifelong interest in meteorology and climatology spurred his strong interest in science. Bob earned his degree in Mathematics at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964.
