Are We All Terrorists Now? Michael Savage Files Suit Against Napolitano

The Department of Homeland Security, under Janet Napolitano, has issued a document that professes to identify Americans who could be potential terrorists. We have been told to keep an eye out for those who would do us harm Out of favor is the color coded alarms from the past. We now must rely on the DHS to issue reports of who to suspect. The list is long and surprising, unless you are intent on shutting down any dissent to your aims.

Among the outraged is talk show host Michael Savage. He is certainly not alone, but he has done something about his outrage.

The Thomas More Law Center issued a statement of its filing of a federal lawsuit against Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano. At issue is the recently publicized Intelligence Assessment, “Rightwing Extremism: Current and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment”.

The suit was filed on behalf of Michael Savage, nationally syndicated talk show host, whose program is third most listened to in the country. Joining Savage in the suit are Gregg Cunningham, President of the pro-life organization Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, Inc., and Iraqi War Marine veteran Kevin Murray. On their behalf the Law Center claims that DHS has violated their First and Fifth Amendment Constitutional rights by attempting to “chill their free speech, expressive association and equal protection rights”.

Furthermore, it is claimed that DHS “encourages law enforcement officers throughout the nation to target and report citizens to federal officials as suspicious rightwing extremists and potential terrorists because of their political beliefs”. Having standing to bring this lawsuit are Savage, Cunningham and Murray, because they represent those mentioned as being potential terrorists.

Apparently, Hamas, El Qaeda, et al, didn’t make the list. It is passé to mention these once-named groups. Instead, there is a long list that includes many more who could have standing to bring suit against DHS. Maybe even you.

Do you:

Oppose restriction on firearms

Oppose lax immigration

Oppose continuation of free trade agreements

Oppose same-sex marriage

Have paranoia of foreign regimes

Fear Communist regimes

Oppose one world government

Bemoan the decline of U.S. stature in the world

Resent the loss of U.S. manufacturing jobs to China and India

And, do you oppose the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship and the expansion of social programs?

Certainly, those protesting in the recent “tea parties” could be considered potential terrorists. Democrats, Republicans, Constitutionalists, Libertarians, and many declaring no political party, joined as concerned Americans to protest the thrust of the government. Their many signs said it all. Presidents Bush and Obama, representatives and senators were the targets of this massive protest. All the more remarkable is the fact that this was not organized by any one political party, which we have come to regard as having the money to turn so many people out. It can be truly called a populist uprising. Those who did not participate in this uprising owe thanks to those who did. They are more representative of you than those sitting in the halls of Congress.

Also, a debt of gratitude is owed to the vanguard who is carrying the legal suit forward. They, also, represent us in demanding the Constitution be obeyed.

Thank you, Thomas More Law Center, Michael Savage, Gregg Cunningham, and Kevin Murray.

At the risk of getting on “the list” I bid you “Godspeed”!
