A POLITICAL SERMON – AND IT’S ABOUT TIME
ADDRESSING 85% OF THE AMERICAN POPULATION KNOWN AS CHRISTIAN AMERICANS

Our Constitution protects us from a government dictated “religion”, AND DOES NOT PROHIBIT US from living our Christianity 24/7. What kind of Christian lives his faith part time? Without our Christian Values, guiding us through our professional and personal lives, we would not be good stewards of our families, communities, states, or the Republic. For the Republic of the United States of America to survive, there can be no separation of our Christian Values and State. Similar to tearing the heart out of a body, separating the foundational values upon which the Republic was founded from The Republic, would result in the death of the Republic.

To quote Samuel Adams:

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual – or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.” (Boston Gazette, 1781)

We have faltered and failed in our responsibility of voting for intelligent men and women of faith from the best of “We the People”; demonstrably exhibiting a personal history of living his or her Christian values on the highest level of attainment. As I began examining the traits of our professional politicians on all sides of the aisle, what became clear to me is that our beloved Ten Commandments, which are inscribed above the entrance to the Supreme Court, are violated frequently by the larger portion of our leaders – especially those whom seem to be able to grab the power.
Just imagine what would happen if the 85% of our population who are Christian, actually made it to the polls and voted for men and women who display not only economic and foreign policy talents, but also lived by the virtues of their Christian faith. The number of Christians who are not registered to vote, and who are registered but do not vote is shocking. There are many sources for this information and the results vary based on how the information is collected. However, it is safe to say that less than one half of all U.S. citizen Evangelical Christians actually voted in the last Presidential Election. Evangelical Christians turn out to vote in equal to or greater percentages than other Christians.

Working backwards from ten to number one of the Ten Commandments, let us look a little closer at our politicians in comparison:

KJV Exodus 20:16 & 17 “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant [employees today], nor his ox nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbors [your neighbor’s belongings / property].” (Brackets mine)

How many lies have we caught politicians telling about their opponents? This phenomenon has become so commonplace, this may be the big turn off, and why so many are not voting. When will we have politicians campaigning on their achievements, and an honest platform, instead of smearing his / her opponent with half-truths and outright lies? Sometimes, what is smeared may actually be the truth, but that is even lost in the wake of so much “bearing false-witness”. Turning away from the voting booth is not the answer if we want to keep our freedom. Christians must become active in who runs for office locally, and at state and national levels. The level of lies told favors no particular party line. As Christians we have failed our Republic by way of all political parties.

KJV Exodus 20:15 “Thou shalt not steal.”

Where do we begin with this one? The list is long, so we will touch on the highlights:

- stealing elections by padding the ‘ballot box’ with deceased, duplicate, or fictitious voters;

- rigging electronic ballot boxes with a pre-determined outcome;

- taxation system which places an unfair burden on the middle class – stealing from one worker to give to another who does not pay taxes, and often does not work when able to do so, AND giving those stolen funds to illegal immigrants – mostly to buy their votes;

- stealing the tax payer’s dollars for pork projects in their home district, and often padding cronies pockets – buying votes once again on a larger scale;

- allowing themselves raises when even the elderly and disabled are denied a cost of living raise;

- taking food and fuel out of the cost of living calculation to steal funds from American citizens;

- legislating themselves salaries and benefits for life.

Do these acts of thievery sound like they were promoted by Christians?

KJV Exodus 20:14 “Thou shalt not commit adultery.”

Bill Clinton said, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” But he did; he had sexual relations in the White House with someone other than his wife; and set a bad example for our young citizens. This is just one of the many sexual charades outside of politician’s marriages that have made headlines in recent years.
To compound the message of adultery, why have parents put up with government programs promoting sexual activities in the guise of ‘health education’, which have often issued a green light to our youth that fornication outside of marriage is healthy behavior? If the 85% of the population that are Christian would all vote, do you think this problem would have ever escalated as far as it has?

KJV Exodus 20:13 “Thou shalt not murder.”

In reading scriptures one can see a distinction between the words kill and murder; and more than one Biblicist has shared that the truer translation is the word murder. Committing murder of a different stripe would be the role that our Congress has played in sending our bravest to battle with built in handicaps. Often without the tools to do their job, and often with “rules of engagement” that help the enemy and not us, many have died needlessly because our President and Congressional members, have been using our military as pawns in ridiculous world political battles for decades. General MacArthur once said that if we do not win, we lose. These were very wise words. We have lost so many American lives needlessly in these political games.

It has been suggested by commentators that the most recent bill which creates a “Super Senate” will be holding funds for our military ransom if the House and the Senate do not pass bills they recommend. Broken down to its lowest denominator this brings the word murder to mind.

KJV Exodus 20:12 “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

We honor our parents with honorable behavior so as to not sully our family name. Those in our government who have cheated, lied, and committed adultery while holding high office, have sullied their family names / their father and mother. If we were conscious of electing talented men and women to office with strong Christian values, this phenomenon would not be the common practice.

KJV Exodus 20:8 – 11 “ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work. But the seventh day (is) the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: (In it) thou shalt not do any work . . . wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Those elected to the highest offices in the land should set the example for Americans by honoring the fourth commandment. We the people should stop shopping, and working on the Sabbath. This should be our time to honor God. If our elected leaders were to start the ball rolling by being good examples, the entire Republic just might follow. Can you imagine the boon this would be to The Body of Christ, and to our American families? I am old enough to remember a time when families were united on the Sabbath in worship and rest. The entire nature of the American Christian family was in tune with their faith, and their family members. The outcomes of children maturing did not take as long as it does today. What Americans valued most could not be bought in any store, but instead was the spiritually healthy and uniting activity known to Americans, living our Christian faith.

KJV Exodus 20:7 “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”

When our elected or appointed Christian officials take any negative action against Christianity, The Bible, or specifically The Ten Commandments, they are taking the LORD’s name in vain. The first amendment was written specifically to keep the Republic from declaring a national religion named The Church of The United States of America. Thereby, is keeping someone in the government (The President) from being named the head of a national church; and further preventing the government from collecting mandatory tithes from the citizens. The First Amendment also prohibits the government from keeping its citizens, including its elected or appointed, from practicing our Christian faith. Just like any business, if the top management of the business does not successfully manage their company, it shows in a negative and harmful example all the way down to the people who are at the bottom of the Corporate Organizational Chart. The same can be said of our Republic. The lack of Christian management at the top of the Republic has trickled down to all levels of our society in such a way as to divide us.

Elected Officials take an oath to defend The Constitution of the United States of America – a document founded on solid Judeo – Christian values. Every act of the Judiciary, the Legislature, or the Administration of the United States of America which is anti-Constitutional, is in essence taking the LORD’s name in vain. Every anti-Christian act or law is taking the LORD’s name in vain. Those who are in an official position to lead men astray will be judged more harshly by their Creator, than those of us who are their constituents. If our politicians who claim to be Christians were living their Christian values, and upholding our United States Constitution, there would be no push for a separation of church and state, because it would be against their very nature to do so.

We The People owe allegiance to The Constitution of the United States of America. As Christians, God is our only King. We receive our rights from our King, not from men holding a temporary office. It is time for the 85% Christian population to remember this, or the greatest nation on earth will disappear more quickly with every passing day. We will find ourselves more like slaves every day our nation does not wake up to their Christian responsibilities; one of which is to vote with our educated minds and with our Christian conscience. Ronald Reagan said it best: “The United States remains the last best hope for a mankind plagued by tyranny and deprivation. America is no stronger than its people – and that means you and me.” It is time for American Christians to turn this ship around, and re-learn the basics of our Christian values, and what that means in returning our Republic to a nation that lives its Christian values.

KJV Exodus 20:4 – 6 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness (of any thing) that (is) in heaven above, or that (is) in the earth beneath [beneath heaven], or that (is) in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God (am) a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth (generation) of them that hate me [God’s rule here, not man’s]; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my Commandments.” (Italics mine) KJV Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Pagan gods and false gods are being addressed here. The more our government shuns Christianity, and sets this example for the people, the more we see the increase of pagan, false, and cultish religions. Also worthy of mention, is the un-Christian uses of money collected from the citizens. Our elected officials are supposed to be the very best our Christian society has to offer. Instead, we are witnessing trends toward the opposite. We are to love our enemies, and love those of other religions. We are not supposed to embrace other religions as equal to our own. We are not supposed to embrace the cultures resulting from other religions. For the mature Christian, this is not a negative concept, but a positive one.

It is time for American Christians to set aside denominational differences, and get back to Biblical basics. When we all start with The Ten Commandments as our guide, we will have a common ground to begin repairing our Republic before it is too late. Make sure your voter’s registration is current. Make sure We The People are selecting our candidates for all local, state and national offices from the best our Christian population has to offer. Make unbreakable appointments to go and vote in all elections. Vote your intelligence and your Christian values. Repairing our Republic really is this simple, but we are in the eleventh hour of a dying nation, and we must give life back to our Republic with as much speed as humanly possible.
