MSCNNBS News reports today that Osama bin Ladin is feared to be captured in the mountainous region between Afghanistan and Pakistan today.  Chris Mouthviews interviewed Senator Dick Dervish this earlier today on Softball.  This is a transcript of that exchange.

Mouthviews: “Senator Dervish, what are the long term consequences for America if this terrifying news proves true?”

Dervish:  “It greatly complicates the job that Democrats have in defending the world against America.  The highly sensitive top secret intelligence which the President shared with congressional leadership half an hour ago is that al-Qaeda plans to explode dirty bombs in Newark, Duluth, Baltimore, Seattle and Detroit next week.  Now those plans have been completely disrupted….”

Mouthviews:  “Omigosh!  The impact of this news….”

Dervish:  “Exactly:  Democrats have five hotly contested Senate seats to defend in New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Washington and Michigan.  Stopping plans to destroy five major cities in those states could divert attention from more important issues, like abortion.  This sort of story could easily tip those races to Republicans and allow President Bush to appoint more ultra-arch-far Right conservatives like John Roberts to the Supreme Court.  It is not unthinkable that next year a pregnant woman in South Dakota may have to travel to North Dakota to get an abortion.”

Mouthviews:  “Is that the worst of it?”

Dervish:  “No.  In spite of the constitutional questions surrounding unwarranted eavesdropping on conversations between American citizens and citizens of other countries, the President has continued the practice, and this led directly to the capture of bin Ladin.  I quote from highly sensitive top secret report the President handed us a few minutes ago:  ‘So, soon the American pigs and their Zionist puppet masters will see millions, not thousands, dead and dying in five cities of the Great Satan.’”

Mouthviews: “But, Dick, can we positively identify that voice as bin Ladin?”

Dervish:  “Oh, that was not bin Ladin.  That was what the American citizen who was calling bin Ladin on his cell phone from Brooklyn was saying.”

Mouthviews:  “So how did this conversation lead to bin Ladin if the phone call  originated in New York?”

Dervish:  “Again, this is just between you, me and the American people – much of this information is still closely guarded by our military  – but apparently bin Ladin kept trying to get this American citizen to be less explicit and to stop calling him ‘Chief’ because American special forces were closing in on him.”
