Effective at noon today (EDT), President Barack Obama has announced his resignation as President of the United States.
In a brief statement released to the press this morning:
The White House
My fellow Americans,
It is with sadness and regret that I must announce today my resignation as President of the United States. My resignation will be effective at noon today.
I spoke with both Vice President Biden and national security advisors earlier this morning about the decision I am about to announce.
This decision was not made lightly or easily. To be honest, I've done everything in my power to avoid this day. But despite my efforts and the outstanding job my friends in the news media have done for me, the recent investigation into the authenticity of certain of my personal documents, including my birth certificate and selective service registration card, have made it clear to me that I can no longer sustain a successful defense of my claim of eligibility to serve as your President. With the allegations of birth certificate forgery and the discovery that the only missing week in national immigration record archives happens to coincide with the week of my birth, I realized that my time as President was fast running out.
Rather than put the nation through greater turmoil as these revelations leak into the public consciousness I decided it was time to put my self-interest aside and do what is right for our country.
As you may know, our Constitution requires not only that the President be a citizen, but, unlike members of the House and Senate, he must also be special class of citizen known as a "natural born citizen." Between revelations that the document I offered nearly one year ago today as a true copy of my birth certificate is, indeed, a forgery, and my inability to produce a legitimate copy of my birth certificate, together with the Supreme Court's past findings that a "natural born citizen" must be the child of two citizen parents, it has become clear to me that the several court cases headed to the US Supreme Court will eventually reveal my ineligibility. Such a finding would necessarily nullify every action I've taken as your President since they were the actions of one constitutionally unqualified to hold the office.
Therefore, and with great regret, I have determined that the best course for achieving the objectives I've set forth is to stand aside and let a constitutionally legitimate successor carry on the programs and plans I've established.
Vice President Biden will be sworn in as your new President at noon today.
It has been a privilege and pleasure to have served you.
Barack Hussein Obama
President of the United States of America
This blockbuster news throws the coming federal elections into chaos. Democrats must now use a much-shortened primary season to find their best candidate to carry the banner of their Progressive agenda forward. The GOP suddenly finds its campaign strategy turned on its head, no longer having Obama as the primary campaign target.
Every act, bill, law, executive order, appropriation and regulation approved by Obama must be declared a nullity in law. Obamacare is finished. The Keystone pipeline may have found new light. This is truly a chaotic event that will take some time to sort out.
But, perhaps the most tragic part of this story is the date chosen for the announcement.
Author of "Looking Out the Window", an evidence-based examination of the "climate change" issue, Bob Webster, is a 12th-generation descendent of both the Darte family (Connecticut, 1630s) and the Webster family (Massachusetts, 1630s). He is a descendant of Daniel Webster's father, Revolutionary War patriot Ebenezer Webster, who served with General Washington. Bob has always had a strong interest in early American history, our Constitution, U.S. politics, and law. Politically he is a constitutional republican with objectivist and libertarian roots. He has faith in the ultimate triumph of truth and reason over deception and emotion. He is a strong believer in our Constitution as written and views the abandonment of constitutional restraint by the regressive Progressive movement as a great danger to our Republic. His favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and believes it should be required reading for all high school students so they can appreciate the cost of tolerating the growth of unconstitutional crushingly powerful central government. He strongly believes, as our Constitution enshrines, that the interests of the individual should be held superior to the interests of the state.
A lifelong interest in meteorology and climatology spurred his strong interest in science. Bob earned his degree in Mathematics at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964.
