Barbaric Obama, God's Choice?

I have a sign in my office that asks the question: If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to prove it?

“I am a Christian” Barack Obama proclaims. But is there enough evidence to prove it?

I have a sign in my office that asks the question: If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to prove it?

“I am a Christian” Barack Obama proclaims. But is there enough evidence to prove it?

Admittedly I don’t know Obama’s heart, however the evidence of a true follower of Jesus Christ is a changed life. The Apostle Paul put it this way: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1 Cor 3:16-23).

Did you hear that? The Spirit of God lives in born again believers! This is one of the most profound statements in all of Scripture. The Spirit of the Creator of this vast universe, of all living things, indwells those who believe in Jesus Christ! The Spirit works in believers to change their thinking and behavior and to make them holy. Sure, it’s a struggle, but it is possible and it is necessary and it is required! Jesus said, “Be ye holy as I am holy.” He did not say, “Be ye badly behaved.”

Paul also said:

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Cor. 6:18-30).

What was the price Paul spoke of? Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

How do we know if a person’s life has changed? His worldview will change over time (in some cases overnight) and he will exchange his secular worldview for a sacred worldview. In other words, sooner or later he will leave his old life behind and adopt a Christian worldview. For those who don’t know what a Christian worldview looks like, Paul explains it in 1 Corinthians.

That said, a good place to start looking for proof to judge whether or not Obama’s worldview is secular or sacred is to examine his view on the sanctity of human life. In that regard the evidence speaks for itself.

In 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court granted Americans a constitutional right to destroy human life in the womb. Roe v. Wade is one of the most divisive issues of our time. The high court’s decision gave American women the “right to choose” to terminate a human life.

The pressing question is, How should Catholics and Protestants think about the issue of abortion? Somewhere around 75% of Americans say they are Christians. So it is reasonable to assume that a large number of “Christians” will go to the polls in November and vote for Sen. Barack Obama. Princeton professor Robert P. George calls Sen. Obama “the most extreme pro-abortion candidate ever to seek the office of President of the United States,” and “the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate.” Moreover, Obama is “the most extreme pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in either house of the United States Congress.” [1]

Hyperbole? You decide.

When the abortion issue came up in the final debate, millions of people sat in front of their TV sets and heard Obama shamelessly distort his record when confronted by Sen. McCain:

“Sen. Obama, as a member of the Illinois State Senate, voted in the Judiciary Committee against a law that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion. He voted against that.”

Without batting an eye, Obama looked into the camera and simply repeated his claim that he voted against the bill because it would have undermined Roe v. Wade. What many folks don’t know is that he voted for an amendment to the bill to ease those concerns -- then he turned around and voted against the legislation!

That he lied is not surprising, as he has lied all along. Even his campaign had to admit that he lied:

“The New York Sun reported that Obama's campaign has admitted that the senator voted against giving medical care to babies born alive after an abortion attempt—a fact that the campaign originally dismissed as a ‘smear.’” [2]

Sen. McCain could have gone much further to expose his opponent’s deceit, but for reasons known only to him, he decided to let it slide. McCain may not think so, but the American people have a right to know the truth. And the facts speak for themselves.

While in the Illinois legislature Sen. Obama voted against the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA). The bill stated that all born-alive babies will be legally protected persons upon birth, no matter what gestational age -- even if they accidentally survive an abortion.

According to LifeNews.com:

“Obama ultimately voted in 2003 against a version of the bill identical to a Congressional anti-infanticide bill the Senate approved on a 98-0 margin and on which the pro-abortion group NARAL took no position.” [3 ]

Back in 2001 Obama described a baby born-alive after a botched abortion as “previable.” Here is an excerpt of his statement on the Illinois Senate floor:

"Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we're really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a—a child, a nine-month-old—child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it—it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute."

Excuse me? A baby outside the mother’s womb that shows signs of life is not a fetus! Merriam-Webster.com defines “previable” thus: “Not sufficiently developed to survive outside the uterus.” The question all people must ask themselves is this: What if an abortion survivor is sufficiently developed to live outside the womb? Should an abortionist be permitted to snuff out his or her life? Obama says yes – and without a second opinion!

By his own words the man who may be the next president of the United States does not (cannot) consider an abortion survivor a person because admitting that a baby born alive after a botched abortion is a human person would undermine his viewpoint on Roe.

“This issue remains on the national radar,” said Dr. Warren Throckmorton, “because Obama has sent mixed messages about his views on born-alive infants. During the 2004 Senate campaign and then as recently as August 16, Obama claimed he would have voted for a federal BAIPA had he been a senator when the bill was enacted into law in 2002, where it was also approved unanimously by the U.S. Senate. His rationale for supporting the federal bill while opposing the state bill is that the two bills were worded differently. However, this is not accurate, according to Factcheck.org, an independent group affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania, and according to a close examination of the two bills. On August 25, 2008, FactCheck.org concluded, ‘Obama’s claim is wrong. In fact, by the time the HHS Committee [Obama’s Senate committee] voted on the bill, it did contain language identical to the federal act.’” [4]

On the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade Sen. Obama released a statement. According to the Baptist Press:

“His statement referred to the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act that was upheld by the Supreme Court, although he avoided using the term "partial-birth" and instead called the law the ‘Federal Abortion Ban.’” [5]

Here’s Sen. Obama’s misleading statement:

"Thirty-five years after the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, it's never been more important to protect a woman's right to choose. Last year, the Supreme Court decided by a vote of 5-4 to uphold the Federal Abortion Ban, and in doing so undermined an important principle of Roe v. Wade: that we must always protect women's health. With one more vacancy on the Supreme Court, we could be looking at a majority hostile to a women's fundamental right to choose for the first time since Roe v. Wade. The next president may be asked to nominate that Supreme Court justice. That is what is at stake in this election.” [6]

So much for denying that there will be a litmus test for his nominees for Supreme Court justices. And there will be a vacancy to fill, soon, as Justice Stevens is 88. In his own words, Obama believes in “a women’s fundamental right to choose” to commit homicide.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.” [7]

The man bragged that he had a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Babybutchers …oops…Parenthood. You can bet that the Left’s sacred abortion mill tithed a chunk of change to the Obama campaign.

Sen. Obama even voted to allow abortions in the sixth month of pregnancy …and later.

If elected Barbaric Obama promised that one of the first things he’d do is to enact the "Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA)." After the Supreme Court upheld the federal ban on the heinous procedure of partial-birth abortion Democrats rushed to introduce the bill that would codify the Roe v. Wade decision into federal law. FOCA would repeal every restriction on abortion, to include partial-birth abortions, and would create a “fundamental right” to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.

Obama would also nullify all parental consent and notification laws.

Pro-lifers who plan to vote for Barack Obama should understand that he supports legislation that would repeal the Hyde Amendment:

“which protects pro-life citizens from having to pay for abortions that are not necessary to save the life of the mother and are not the result of rape or incest. The abortion industry laments that this longstanding federal law, according to the pro-abortion group NARAL, ‘forces about half the women who would otherwise have abortions to carry unintended pregnancies to term and bear children against their wishes instead.’ In other words, a whole lot of people who are alive today would have been exterminated in utero were it not for the Hyde Amendment. Obama has promised to reverse the situation so that abortions that the industry complains are not happening (because the federal government is not subsidizing them) would happen. That is why people who profit from abortion love Obama even more than they do his running mate.” [8]

Christian voters should find Barack Obama’s view deeply troubling. No serious follower of Jesus Christ, which he claims he is, should hold such extreme views! Well, he does and he was less than candid about during the debate.

There’s more…

“Obama … has co-sponsored a bill-strongly opposed by McCain-that would authorize the large-scale industrial production of human embryos for use in biomedical research in which they would be killed. In fact, the bill Obama co-sponsored would effectively require the killing of human beings in the embryonic stage that were produced by cloning. It would make it a federal crime for a woman to save an embryo by agreeing to have the tiny developing human being implanted in her womb so that he or she could be brought to term. This "clone and kill" bill would, if enacted, bring something to America that has heretofore existed only in China-the equivalent of legally mandated abortion. In an audacious act of deceit, Obama and his co-sponsors misleadingly call this an anti-cloning bill. But it is nothing of the kind. What it bans is not cloning, but allowing the embryonic children produced by cloning to survive.” [9]

Does this not make your blood boil? It should, if you value human life.

The Catholic Church places a high value on human life. But liberal Catholics, like Obama’s running mate Sen. Joe Biden, blithely ignore Pope Benedict’s urging to respect life and protect the unborn from abortion and instead choose to follow their own path. Would a true Catholic ignore their pope?

Here’s another question to ponder: Would a true Christian care more about protecting the environment than they do about the murder of innocent babies?

Many Protestants are no different from Catholics in the way they view abortion. They’ve hardened their hearts. In order for them to achieve a “peace about it” they must cast the Bible aside, which is a Christian’s guide for living, and make up rules they’re comfortable with. Liberal Christians detest hearing that God condemns their unholy lifestyle choices, so they deal with it by ridiculing anyone who quotes the scriptures to shore up an argument. The sad thing is, pro-abort Christians have been taken in by the radical feminist’s lie that “every child should be a wanted child.” Those are the words of the Destroyer!

These are the Words of the Creator:

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:27).

"What is man, that thou art mindful of him?And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet" (Psalm 8:4-6).

“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:3-14).

What I’ve presented in this commentary are the plain facts about Barack Obama, and as John Adams, our second president, famously said: "Facts are stubborn things."

“Roe is a compact with the Culture of Death,” said Albert Mohler, “So long as it stands, America is the land of abortion on demand. Every pregnancy is a tentative pregnancy. Every fetus is in danger. Every American is complicit in this tragedy.” [10]

Those who cast their vote for Barack Obama will be complicit in this tragedy.
