Obama's 34 Month Report Card
(updated to 39 months)
Based on his performance, "Mr. Hope and Change" apparently wants to create a nation humbled, humiliated, and casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where "we the people" are government controlled. This article, originally written after Obama's first 34 months in office (in October 2011) has been updated by WEBCommentary.com to reflect current figures. Most have continued their negative trend.
Mr. Hope and Change wants to create a nation humbled; humiliated, casting-aside capitalism and individual freedoms for one where we the people are government controlled. This would be a system that genuflects mediocrity, steals personal aspiration and opportunity, and punishes those who strive to succeed. This article, originally written after Obama's first 34 months in office (in October 2011) has been updated by WEBCommentary.com to reflect current figures. Updates are shown in brackets []. Most figures have continued their sharply adverse trend. Links to sources added by WEBCommentary.com.
A gallon of regular gasoline the day Obama was inaugurated was $1.79 on average in the U.S. Today that price is $3.59, a 100.6% increase [update: current average cost of regular gasoline is $3.76, a 110% increase!]. The number of food stamp recipients has risen since Obama took office from 31,983,716 to 43,200,878, a 35.1% jump [update: currently > 46,500,000, a more than 45.3% increase]. Long term unemployment soared 146.2% during the same 34 month period from 2,600,000 to 6,400,000 [update: number of long term unemployed is currently 5.5 million, a 111.5% increase while long term unemployment duration rose from 19 months to 41 weeks, an incredible 215% increase while unemployed rose from 2.6 million to 5.8 million, a 223% increase]. Staggering "hope and change," isn't it?
American citizens living in poverty have risen 9.5% from 39,800,000 to 43,600,000 [update: 46 million in January 2012, a 15.6% increase], and the number of unemployed has jumped almost 25% from 11,616,000 to 14,485,000 as of August 31, 2011 [update: the current "U6" and "U6+long term discouraged" real unemployment rates are 15% and 23%, respectively, increases of 15.4% and 35.3%, respectively, from when Obama took office in January 2009]. The number of unemployed blacks has risen from 12.6% at the end of George Bush's term to 15.8% today, a 25.4% increase [update: black unemployment increase in February after dropping from 2011's high, to 14.1% in March 2012, a 14.6% increase] and finally, our national debt is up 43.2% from 10.627 trillion to 15,022 trillion [update: currently, $15.481 trillion, up a 45.7% increase].
Keep these figures in mind as we recount the number of firsts for this presidency:
First President to go on 17 lavish vacations, including date nights and Wednesday evening White House parties for his friends, paid for by the taxpayer.
First President to keep a dog trainer on retainer for $102,000.00 a year at taxpayer expense. [Note: Obama's dog trainer died in January 2011 at age 52]
Remember that 34 months of Obama we the people have accumulated
national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our
nation's entire history, as the Obama's plan their next extravagant vacation
to the Indonesian Island nation of Bali.
Hope and change anyone?
