The best way to stop Obama from being re-elected and his "progressive" agenda from being implemented is to subject him to the scrutiny he has avoided, thanks to the liberal media establishment led by the complicit New York Times.
Laura Ingraham's view is that President Obama deal to extend the Bush tax cuts for two years is very good for him politically.
She's right. (Leftists will grumble and support him in 2012. They won't be voting for the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, because President Obama is their guy, so much so that the Left will help make him more re-electable by criticizing him.)
Election Day 2010 confirmed what polls had showed: President Obama had lost the key voting group, independents. Now President Obama will be able to tell independents that he heard them and responded positively to them, standing up to the Left. The appearance of moderation was critical to the election of the 2008 candidate of "hope" and "change." Yes, he spoke of
"fundamentally transforming" America, but Americans generally did not interpret that as rejection of tradition American values and acceptance of socialism, income and wealth redistribution and bigger government.
In addition, the extension of the Bush tax cuts will improve the economy and President Obama will claim credit for it...even though he opposed the Bush tax cuts and promised to end them.
First Lady Michelle Obama's comment that her husband has work to finish is confirmation that he wants to be re-elected.
Despite the 2010 election results, don't assume that President Obama can't win enough electoral votes to be re-elected (even as the House remains under Republican control and the Republicans take control of the Senate).
2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a huge mistake: he assured Americans that presidential candidate Obama was an honorable man.
That helped candidate Obama successfully lie about his involvement with ACORN.
Obama during the last presidential debate:
"...with respect to ACORN, ACORN is a community organization. Apparently what they've done is they were paying people to go out and register folks, and apparently some of the people who were out there didn't really register people, they just filled out a bunch of names.
"It had nothing to do with us. We were not involved. The only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs.
"Now, the reason I think that it's important to just get these facts out is because the allegation that Senator McCain has continually made is that somehow my associations are troubling."
Obama is right...about the importance of facts.
McCain was right...about Obama having troubling associations. (Much more right than he apparently knew.)
Obama's statement--"My only involvement I've had with ACORN was I represented them alongside the U.S. Justice Department in making Illinois implement a motor voter law that helped people get registered at DMVs."--is a lie, not a fact.
Yes, Obama represented ACORN in that lawsuit and the Clinton Justice Department predictably sided with ACORN.
But that was NOT Obama's only involvement with ACORN.
ACORN is the organization with which Obama has been associated throughout his adult life, as organizer, trainer, lawyer, funder and political beneficiary...and Obama's Achilles heel.
Before Election Day 2008 Fox News invited ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief not only to appear on "Fox & Friends" on the Friday before Election Day 2008, but to appear over the weekend. (It knew that she could be "a game changer.")
Ms. MonCrief, a former ACORN/Project Vote insider and then a "liberal" supporting Obama and suspicious of Fox News, declined, even though she had testified as a key witness in the Pennsylvania ACORN case earlier in October 2008 (see www.docstoc.com/docs/5005886/Moyer-v-ACORN-transcript).
But Ms. MonCrief followed the news, soon realized that her faith in Obama had been undeserved and came forward to expose Obama lies and the illicit relationship between ACORN/Project Vote and the Obama campaign.
Unfortunately, Democrats loyal to Obama controlled then controlled the House.
Fortunately, that will no longer be so in January!
Republicans need to learn a lesson from history: In 1972, after the Watergate break-in, President Nixon assured America that he was "not a crook" and proceeded to win re-election overwhelmingly against "liberal" George McGovern, winning 49 of 50 states. It was only after the fruits of investigation led Americans to disbelieve Nixon that his political base crumbled and he resigned.
With the bulk of Americans, character counts.
Scrutiny of politicians is essential.
The best way to stop Obama from being re-elected and his "progressive" agenda from being implemented is to subject him to the scrutiny he has avoided, thanks to the liberal media establishment led by the complicit New York Times.
As I posted on October 22, 2008 (www.webcommentary.com/php/ShowArticle.php?id=gaynorm&date=081022): "Yesterday, Anita advised me, Ms. Strom apologetically canceled a meeting for today and explained that New York Times policy was not to publish what might be a game changing article this close to the election.
The Times really was doing Obama a huge favor.
The stealth socialist agenda depends upon concealing the truth (and putting liberal judicial activists on the bench).
The whole truth must be told.
John 8: 32: "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Michael J. Gaynor has been practicing law in New York since 1973. A former partner at Fulton, Duncombe & Rowe and Gaynor & Bass, he is a solo practitioner admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts and an Association of the Bar of the City of New York member.
Gaynor graduated magna cum laude, with Honors in Social Science, from Hofstra University's New College, and received his J.D. degree from St. John's Law School, where he won the American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence and served as an editor of the Law Review and the St. Thomas More Institute for Legal Research. He wrote on the Pentagon Papers case for the Review and obscenity law for The Catholic Lawyer and edited the Law Review's commentary on significant developments in New York law.
The day after graduating, Gaynor joined the Fulton firm, where he focused on litigation and corporate law. In 1997 Gaynor and Emily Bass formed Gaynor & Bass and then conducted a general legal practice, emphasizing litigation, and represented corporations, individuals and a New York City labor union. Notably, Gaynor & Bass prevailed in the Second Circuit in a seminal copyright infringement case, Tasini v. New York Times, against newspaper and magazine publishers and Lexis-Nexis. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed, 7 to 2, holding that the copyrights of freelance writers had been infringed when their work was put online without permission or compensation.
Gaynor currently contributes regularly to www.MichNews.com, www.RenewAmerica.com, www.WebCommentary.com, www.PostChronicle.com and www.therealitycheck.org and has contributed to many other websites. He has written extensively on political and religious issues, notably the Terry Schiavo case, the Duke "no rape" case, ACORN and canon law, and appeared as a guest on television and radio. He was acknowledged in Until Proven Innocent, by Stuart Taylor and KC Johnson, and Culture of Corruption, by Michelle Malkin. He appeared on "Your World With Cavuto" to promote an eBay boycott that he initiated and "The World Over With Raymond Arroyo" (EWTN) to discuss the legal implications of the Schiavo case. On October 22, 2008, Gaynor was the first to report that The New York Times had killed an Obama/ACORN expose on which a Times reporter had been working with ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief.
